I periodically find myself covering the gaming habits of the richest man on earth, and some who may seem like one of its most important political figures, now in Trump’s ear, but this new Elon Musk gaming saga is one of the strangest yet.
For the past few weeks specifically, there has been a Twitter user named Adrian Dittman with 200,000 followers that seems like an Elon Musk superfan, but many had come to suspect it’s actually an alternate account for Musk himself. However, as I’m writing this, The Spectator just published an extensive article to prove that Dittman is not Musk, and is actually a real person, a German living in Fiji who is in fact…an Elon Musk superfan.
We’ll go into that further, but the topline here is that prominent YouTuber/Streamer ConnorEatsPants invited “Adrian Dittman” on his weekly Fortnite Friday comedy stream, and Dittman accepted, playing Fortnite with him for several hours. This resulted in a truly wild stream where Connor grills Dittman under the assumption that it’s actually Musk, though Dittman periodically denies it, and this new report seems to prove it’s not him.
The result is a series of clips about commonalities Dittman and Musk both share, highlighted by Connor in his signature, let’s say “bombastic” style full of relentless questions and jokes. Among the topics:
- Dittman’s seemingly poor understanding of meme culture and that style of humor
- Dittman defending the right wing while maintaining various things are “not really right wing.”
- Dittman’s favorite game being Diablo 4 (where Elon has claimed he’s a top player in the world, previously).
- Dittman talking about remembering past moments and liking various media (The Matrix) that are not terribly reflective of someone who is allegedly in their ‘20s.
In the end, a lot of this was used as more evidence that Dittman is really Musk, either talking through a voice changer or using some sort of AI program to create an alter ego. That does not appear to be the case.
Before this recent report, there were conflicting takes on whether Dittman is Musk or just a superfan, as previously Dittman and Musk were supposedly talking over each other on Twitter spaces, which would be hard to pull off. But as of late there have been developments like Dittman sharing a screenshot on 4chan that appeared to show he had admin access at Twitter. He’s also slipped at times talking about “my” positions that are supposed to be Elon defenses. One of his latest posts on 4chan was bemoaning the “negativity” there, and then shortly after we got this tweet from Elon about “negativity” on Twitter, which he says he will now curb:
This two hour Fortnite stream, if you didn’t know about the Dittman thing at all, you would likely simply listen and believe it’s Elon. But according to this new report, he isn’t, and it’s just some guy who love him and is not very good at Fortnite.
