Battlestate Games has revealed a new round of Escape From Tarkov Twitch drops that will give you some free loot for supporting streamers.

The Escape From Tarkov Twitch drops are live now and will run until September 8 at 2pm BST / 9am EDT, but they will work slightly differently to the last lot, with this campaign requiring you to subscribe to a streamer who is broadcasting Escape From Tarkov at the time.

All streamers who have linked their Twitch profile and Escape From Tarkov profile will be eligible for drops, and everyone who signs up for a paid subscription to any eligible streamer while they are broadcasting Tarkov will get a drop. However, it seems that Prime subs, or being gifted a sub, does not entitle you to a drop, so the only way to earn them is to pay some real money.

The drop will be a new item, which is a streamer item container that obviously features streamer items in game. They aren’t the most exciting drops in the world, but some do sell for decent money, so it could be a nice early wipe economic boost if you sub to enough streamers.

Some players have criticised the fact that you can pay real world money to gain an in game bonus and give you a slight advantage, but realistically the gains from the items you get are so minimal that it is difficult to complain about. It also should mean that streamers see an increase in subscriptions while the drops are going, which is never going to be a bad thing, especially given the changes over recent years that have hindered streamers’ ability to make a living from streaming.

These drops of course come off the back of the last set of Tarkov drops that were launched around the same time as the new wipe. The drops campaign appeared to be quite successful and viewership numbers for Tarkov during that time were high, as expected. It will be interesting to see if these paid drops also bring an increase in viewership numbers.

But with the wipe now somewhat old news and a lot of players already starting to drop off from Tarkov once again now they have experienced all the new toys such as the new boss and factory map. As a result, it would not have been a surprise to see viewership numbers drop anyway around this time, so it isn’t exactly a fair comparison.
