There is no doubt that the Arena Breakout Infinite closed beta has been a success, but today it hit another milestone as for a period it was the most watched game on Twitch thanks to the revival of its drops campaign.

Earlier today another round of Arena Breakout Infinite closed beta keys were given away on Twitch through the Twitch drops system that rewards viewers for watching streamers play the game. Watching any streamer play Arena Breakout Infinite would give you a beta key for the game, which have proven to be very sought-after.

This campaign saw over 201,000 people watch the game on Twitch at the same time, topping the most-watched games list on the platform. That figure comfortably beat the likes of Grand Theft Auto V, League of Legends and Valorant which were the next most popular games at the time, with GTA V coming second with 171,000 viewers.

While the drops were clearly a big reason for the popularity, and there were likely a few bots in there trying to grab one through nefarious means, getting this kind of viewership on Twitch is a big deal for the new extraction shooter. Top streamers from all genres seem to be enjoying the game and that is generating a serious amount of hype, which with a smart launch plan could transfer to massive player numbers at launch.

A recent tweet suggested that a launch could be coming sooner than anticipated, with the initial release window being revealed as later this year when the beta started. But with the success of the beta and the fallout from the Tarkov controversy it could be a smart move to bump that up to make sure as many players as possible can get into the game.

Despite the success, I still think there is a lot that needs to be improved in Arena Breakout Infinite before it launches, with movement and shooting still failing to grab me as fun. It seems that a lot of players are loving the fact this is a more modernized version of Tarkov, but for many, myself included, it just doesn’t feel as fun to play and until that is changed I likely won’t be dropping Tarkov in favor of Arena Breakout Infinite.

Either way, there is no doubt that a lot of players are eager to give Arena Breakout Infinite a try as proven by the recent success on Twitch. If you haven’t got a beta key just yet there are still chances to get in, and there is a decent chance more Twitch drops will be on the way soon given the popularity.
