Season 5 of Call of Duty Modern Warfare III and Warzone is coming, and it appears the newest season will bring a huge collaboration with WWE.

The official Call of Duty social media accounts dropped this teaser on Friday and used the term “smackdown” and tagged the WWE in the caption.

The trailer says the new season will kick off on July 24. You can’t take much else from the six-second teaser, but a wrestling ring and three human shadows suggest COD fans are set to get WWE Superstars skins.

The figures aren’t distinguishable, but if the level of star added is consistent with the other COD collaborations, there’s almost no one from the WWE’s roster who should be considered out of reach. Some data miners suggested a Marvel collaboration built on the Wolverine and Deadpool film was coming, and that would have made sense, considering the film is set to release in theaters on July 26.

It’s possible that information was put in purposefully to send data miners sniffing down the wrong path. While the collaboration with WWE is confirmed, we don’t know what it will mean for COD players. In the past, COD collaborations have included various items in the shop.

We’ve seen bundles and free rewards to earn that items match the IP of the brand involved. We should learn more details within the coming week. An exciting addition would be a map similar to an arena with a broken-down wrestling ring. It might provide high and low ground cover and a few potential camping spots.

When it comes to potential skins, WWE’s previous collaboration with Fortnite might give us an indication of what is to come in COD. Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch had skins in Epic’s uber-popular title. Could we see John Cena, Drew McIntyre, Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, and Sami Zayn in COD?

Reddit users were surprisingly excited about the collaboration. One user immediately declared he was “buying all the skins,” followed by a threatening but non-threatening profane sign-off.

Several others began to speculate about potential WWE-themed melee moves playfully. If Sweet Chin Music finds its way into the game, this might go to another level.

In addition to any content and cosmetic updates, it will also be interesting to see what is done to address the ongoing issue with the COR-45 and the exploit mouse and keyboard users have been able to enjoy.

After the latest patch, the exploit that allows users to lock the wheel on their mouse to produce a higher rate of fire isn’t fixed. Perhaps this issue will be addressed with the next update or the first patch within Season 5.

Stay tuned for more information on the upcoming season of Modern Warfare III and Warzone, including details on the WWE collaboration and other changes to the game.
