Portland-based Campfire Audio is perhaps best known for its range of eye-catching boutique In-Ear Monitors, designed for serious audiophiles. Today Campfire has announced that its new Fathom IEMs are now available to consumers in the UK.
Designed and assembled in Portland, Oregon, these are earphones made specifically for music enthusiasts and they include six custom-made balanced armature drivers for a more detailed soundstage with a boost in the mid-band.
The Fathom IEMs have an elegant and ergonomic machined aluminum design that has a refined shape with smooth contours. The shape of the Fathom earpieces is designed for optimal listening comfort. The machined body is coupled with uniquely prismatic rainbow PVD stainless steel fasteners and MMCX connectors. Campfire says that each pair of Fathom IEMs has its unique colorway.
The Fathom IEMs have six custom-made balanced armature drivers in each earpiece. Each driver has a specific role. The configuration includes dual custom high-definition super tweeters for clear highs; a pair of custom mid-range drivers for vocal and instrument reproduction along with dual custom BA woofers for plenty of bass. Campfire Audio claims the array of drivers has been engineered to deliver precise sound across the entire frequency range.
The designers of the Fathom IEMs intended to produce a sound that is as true to the original recording as possible. The setup aims to let the listener hear music with clarity and depth. Campfire Audio claims its approach ensures a listening experience that’s both immersive and authentic, suitable for a wide variety of musical genres.
The earpieces are complemented by two Time Stream Cables, one with a 3.5mm stereo termination and the other with a balanced 4.4mm Pentaconn connector. Time Stream Cables have eight silver-plated copper conductors in a ribbon configuration for better ergonomics and lower vibrations or microphonics.
The IEMs come with a Dimensional folding leather carrying case that has been hand-made in Portugal. It provides a convenient way of storing the IEMs and cables when on the move.
