The latest set of Deadlock patch notes have been released, and the two big additions are a band new hero in the shape of Mirage, and a long awaited anti-cheat system that has been implemented in a hilarious way.

Obviously, the big news is the addition of Mirage, a brand-new hero in Deadlock. Mirage is free to play for everyone, much like the other heroes in the game, and has some of the more interesting abilities we have seen so far. You can see a full rundown of his abilities below.

The other big addition in the new Deadlock patch is the long awaited anti-cheat system, which, with an increase is cheaters, is a very welcome addition. However, this isn’t just your standard anti-cheat, and Valve has made it a little more fun than most. If a cheater is detected in your match, you have two options. As the opposing team to the cheater, you can either vote to end the match straight away and ban them instantly, or you can choose to turn the cheater into a frog for the rest of the match, and continue playing. The cheater will then be banned as soon as the match ends.

While this is only a first test of the system so Valve can get more data, it actually seems like a fun way to deal with cheaters, as they will be forced to endure the same kind of misery they have put you through. It likely won’t have too much of an effect, as a free to play shooter there’s always going to be cheaters, but this is a fun first step.

The rest of the patch notes include a lot of balance changes. Lots of heroes have been nerfed, the map has been tweaked and a load of smaller new features have been added. This might be the biggest Deadlock patch we have ever seen, and certainly makes for better reading than this week’s Valorant patch.

Mirage Abilities And Skills

Mirage is the brand-new Deadlock hero and is available right now for all players to jump into. Like all the Deadlock heroes he has four main abilities, and compared to some of them, these seem to be quite fun.

1. Tornado

Mirage turns into a tornado that moves in the targeted direction for a short period of time. If he hits an enemy in tornado form, the enemy will be lifted into the air and take damage. While in tornado form, and after exciting, Mirage will have bullet evasion.

2. Fire Scarabs

Mirage fires a scarab in the target location, and if one hits an enemy it will setal max health from them, healing Mirage, and add a bullet resist debuff to the enemy. Only on scarab can be attached to an enemy at once.

3. Djinn’s Mark

Mirage puts a multiplier on every enemy he shoots. Once this multiplier hits the target amount, the targeted enemy will take spirit damage based on the multiplier number and be briefly revealed on the map.

4. Traveler

Mirage targets an ally or visible enemy hero on the map and then teleports to their location after a short channelling period. After the teleport completes, Mirage gains movement speed and fire rate buffs until his next reload.
