In late June of this year, Guy ‘Dr Disrespect’ Beahm, one of the most famous (or infamous) streamers in the world posted a shocking confession to Twitter. In it, the gaming celebrity revealed why he was banned from Twitch several years earlier: He had engaged in private messages with a minor that he himself said “sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate” though he denied being a predator or a pedophile.
Now, “Doc” as he is affectionately referred to by his rapidly dwindling fanbase, has deleted that tweet entirely. The most recent tweet on his Twitter/X account is a cryptic photo posted on August 1st showing the streamer with his hands steepled behind a board that shows half chess pieces and half checkers pieces.
Of course, you can’t ever really truly delete anything from the internet. Gaming personality Jake Lucky immediately posted screenshots of the original statement (which underwent multiple edits when Beahm first posted it) on his Twitter account:
Whatever Doc has planned, I can’t imagine he’ll be able to truly revitalize his career and reputation. There are some lines you simply cannot (and should not) cross, and inappropriate messages with a minor is one of them. The gaming company he helped create, Midnight Society, cut ties with Beahm prior to his statement, and he’s been banned or demonetized almost everywhere. Perhaps he’ll find a new platform—Rumble or Twitter, maybe—but a real comeback seems unlikely, even if Dr Disrespect returns. It’s possible he’s also just trolling everyone, seeing what kind of buzz he can create with these tweets and deletions. We shall see.
