EA’s new Conor McGregor Alter Ego is probably the best lightweight fighter on the roster–at least statistically.
The latest version of the Notorious is a part of the Community Request program that also includes Charles Oliveira (UFC 262) (2021), Rampage Jackson (UFC 75) (2007) , Jorge Masvidal (UFC 244) (2019), and Daniel Cormier (UFC 226) (2018).
McGregor’s render is solid, and his ratings caught my eye. He has a perfect 100 rating in Punch Speed, Punch Power, Accuracy, and Footwork. McGregor’s head movement rating is 97.
While his kicking ratings are modest (92 and 94 for power and accuracy, respectively), it’s safe to say that he is the fighter best-suited for a counter-punching, sniper play style in the game.
That fighter profile is on brand with who McGregor was in his prime, and this version of him is based on the MMA icon’s high point as a fighter. On November 12, 2016, at the main event of UFC 205 in Madison Square Garden, McGregor became the first man to hold titles in two divisions simultaneously when he defeated Eddie Alvarez by second-round TKO.
McGregor entered the fight as the UFC Featherweight champion, vying to add the lightweight title to his trophy case. McGregor was scheduled to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the title in March 2016, but an injury forced the Brazilian out of action.
Nate Diaz stepped in to save the UFC 196 main event and defeated McGregor via second-round submission in a fight fought at welterweight. McGregor postponed his pursuit of the lightweight title to get revenge against Diaz. McGregor won the rematch by majority decision in August at UFC 202.
After defeating Diaz, McGregor shifted his attention back to the lightweight title that Alvarez had beaten dos Anjos for in July 2016. The McGregor-Alvarez fight wasn’t close. McGregor outlanded Alvarez 32-9 in significant strikes and shut down all three of the latter’s attempts to take him down.
The end came in the second round when legendary referee John McCarthy stopped a defenseless Alvarez. In case you haven’t seen it, here is the complete fight.
After the victory, McGregor cut one of the most historic post-match promos in UFC history.
It’s a legendary performance and an all-time version of McGregor in the game.
Charles Oliveira – UFC 262 is based on Do Bronx’s TKO win over Michael Chandler in 2021. The two men will rematch on November 16 at Madison Square Garden in the co-main event of UFC 309.
Rampage Jackson – UFC 75 shines a light on the MMA icon when he captured the light heavyweight title and defeated then-Pride middleweight and welterweight champion Dan Henderson.
Daniel Cormier – UFC 226 is based on the night DC became a double champion in his own right. He defeated Stipe Miocic to become heavyweight champion via first-round KO.
Lastly, Jorge Masvidal – UFC 244 comes from Gamebred’s victory in the first-ever BMF title fight. Masvidal won the fight by third-round TKO, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was on hand to place the belt around his waist. You can unlock or purchase all these Alter Egos through EA UFC 5.
