A new patch has launched for Escape From Tarkov and while the patch notes are fairly basic, a major addition has been stealthily added to the game, with the Terminal map finally being playable.
The Escape From Tarkov 1.0.0.2 patch is now live after an extended server downtime, and initially some players were confused as the lengthy downtime didn’t seem to feature many big changes. The patch notes were entirely made of bug fixes, which are typically reserved for smaller technical updates rather than major patches.
The official patch notes do list a number of annoying bugs that have been fixed, which are always welcome, but it seems the real reason for the patch was to finally unlock the last map to come to Tarkov, which we were expecting to arrive alongside the full launch a couple of weeks ago.
Terminal is the final Escape From Tarkov map, and is where players will finally be able to actually escape Tarkov and complete the game. Despite being advertised as coming with the full launch, it seems that the map was not actually enabled when the launch hit, with some players who have been mainlining the story hitting a wall and not being able to progress onto the Terminal map.
Now, just a few minutes after the patch has gone live, some players have already managed to queue into the Terminal map and are in the process of exploring what it has to offer. Tarkov game director Nikita Buyanov credited streamer Tigz with the first official Terminal run, but he failed to extract from Tarkov. At the time of writing it seems no player has managed to escape yet, but that achievement can only be a matter of hours away at most.

Now that all of the end game content has seemingly been added to Tarkov the launch period seems to be complete, with all the promised content being added. However, some fans are still waiting for the winter snow effect to be added, which many thought would have arrived by now. Hopefully that will come in the next few days, and we can truly get into the end of year Tarkov spirit that has been a staple for many over the past few years.
For now it’s time to finally Escape From Tarkov, although given how many hours it seems to take just to reach the Terminal map, it will probably be quite a while before I actually make it that far.
