Escape From Tarkov will launch a new test event over the next few days that will remove a controversial feature to see how the economy holds up.

The new event, which is expected to launch in the coming days, was announced by Escape From Tarkov game director Nikita Buyanov on Twitter earlier today. In a tweet, he said that the found in raid requirement for items to be listed on the flea market will be removed as part of the event.

The found in raid requirement means that an item has to be found as loot spawned on the map in order to be sold on the player-to-player flea market where prices are set by supply and demand. If you take an item into a raid in your inventory then it will lose the found in raid status, and if you only manage to bring loot out of the raid in your secure container it will also remove the found in raid status. The requirement means that players can’t transfer high-value items between themselves in a map and then sell them to others on the flea market.

However, this change will seemingly open up all items that aren’t restricted to be available on the flea market, which will add significantly more value to killing enemy players as you can now sell their guns and attachments for higher prices on the market rather than having to sell them to traders as they would not have had the found in raid requirement.

It seems that the team is still figuring out exactly how the event will work, with Buyanov asking the community for feedback on whether restrictions on what gear can be sold on the flea market should be lifted.

There is no word on exactly when the event will launch, or if it will include anything else other than just the found in raid change. However, with Arena Breakout Infinite and Gray Zone Warfare taking a lot of the Tarkov player base in recent weeks you can probably expect there to be a couple of other surprises to entice players back.

Personally, I think this sounds like a very interesting event and one that might make me go back to Tarkov for the first time in a while, just so I can try and make a ton of cash. With the found in raid removal I can just run around with very low-value gear and search every loot spot without having to worry about dying and not being able to sell whatever high-value items I find because I can just stick them in my secure container. After all the negativity surrounding Tarkov in recent weeks, it will be good to jump back in and enjoy what is still a great game, and one that is still much better than it’s competitors.
