Starfield: Shattered Space is releasing on Monday, September 30, and since there were no press review codes, I will be playing alongside you all then. But when will Shattered Space launch? Bethesda has now released a list of regional times so you can figure out when it will be live in your region. Here’s the breakdown of the Shattered Space release times globally:

Sept 30:

  • 8 AM – PDT
  • 9 AM – CST
  • 10 AM – CDT
  • 11 AM – EST
  • 12 PM – BRT
  • 4 PM – BST
  • 5 PM – CEST
  • 6 PM – AST
  • 8:30 PM – iST
  • 11 PM – HKT/CST

October 1:

  • 12 AM – JST
  • 1 AM – AEST
  • 4 AM – NZDT

And this appears to be for both PC and Xbox simultaneously, which is not always a guarantee for releases like this. One strange thing about this is that September 30 is a Monday, which has some players irked that it’s not releasing on a weekend for more playtime. It’s unclear why exactly they did this, but it’s far from the only game/content launch on a weekday.

I didn’t really consider this, but Bethesda is now recommending that players being “at least” level 35 before doing the Shattered Space expansion because “Va’ruun’kai is dangerous.” In the context of the game and how fast early leveling goes, that’s not really a tall order. And I think if you’re a big enough fan of the base game to be interested in playing Shattered Space, you’re probably at least that level already. I think I will be okay at level 105 with a character who essentially cannot die, even on new difficulty levels.

How will Shattered Space perform? Well, a couple million people already bought the advance package that includes the DLC when the game launched, so most of them will probably show up. Then there are Steam purchasers. Then there are “free” Xbox Game Pass players who will need to be convinced to shell out now, as the expansion is not on GP.

There have been strong indications that this is not the only major expansion Bethesda has planned for Starfield, but we should keep in mind that they are simultaneously developing Elder Scrolls 6, which I’m sure Microsoft wants to see released within the next decade, and it was announced in, it’s hard to believe, 2018.

I’ll be playing on Monday at 11 AM, and I’m wondering how long the DLC will end up being, contained to one planet. But I’m sure there will be plenty to do.
