The Escape From Tarkov Halloween event is in full swing and after a new patch earlier today two new quests have been added, as well as multiple changes being made to the zombie spawn rate. One of the new quests is Find The Source, and you can find out how to complete it below.

The new technical update for Escape From Tarkov is a tiny patch that has added both the Find The Source quest and the Matter Of Technique quest. Once you complete the latter, the Find The Source quest will unlock, and it tasks you with heading into the zombie infected Labs map to find a diary that may be useful.

If you have already had enough of the current zombie event in Tarkov, the good news is that the Customs map is now free from zombies after Reshala and his guards killed them all. The spawn rates on some maps have also been toned down, so they should be less annoying going forward. There’s also quite a few bug fixes that improve some issues the big patch last week introduced.

When you get to the Find The Source quest it looks reasonably simple on paper, but finding the exact location isn’t easy, so be sure to check out the guide below.

How To Complete The Find The Source Quest In Escape From Tarkov

To complete the Find The Source quest in Escape From Tarkov you first need to have completed the Matter Of Technique quest, which is reasonably easy to complete. Once you have completed it the Find The Source quest will unlock.

The Find The Source quest tasks you with going to The Lab map and finding a sealed room, in the room you then have to find a diary and extract it out of the map. On paper that sounds quite easy, but in practise it is much harder than you might think.

Firstly you’ll need to load into Labs, and as it is filled with zombies you’ll want to bring a lot of ammo with you. Then you’ll need to head to the new expansion area of the map, which is near the blue key card room. You’ll likely have already been there for one of the first quests in the new event.

In this area, once you get into the main area after activating the switch, there is a locked door that requires the residential key card. You will need this key card to complete the quest, but they are reasonably easy to find in this area, and at least one is guaranteed to spawn every raid. It’s called the TerraGroup Labs residential unit keycard, and if you are really struggling, you can buy them on the Flea Market.

Once you have the keycard you’ll need to head to the residential unit area, which is in the new expanded area of the map, and search for a diary. There seems to be a few spawns for this, but at least one is under one of the bunk beds and another is under the filing cabinet on wheels near the end of the beds. Once you find the diary, you need to extract it out of the raid and turn it in to complete the quest.
