Are you one of the many people who still haven’t quite got to grips with ChatGPT? Well, you are not alone. Artificial Intelligence in the form of ChatGPT is a clever piece of technology and developing at an incredible pace. AI is going to impact our lives in the same way that the Telegraph did for the Victorians and the Internet did for the Millennials.

The one issue that is slowing up the adoption of AI and ChatGPT into many people’s workflows is the need to schlepp all the way to the browser so you can type your prompt into ChatGPT and wait for an answer.

In ChatGPT, a prompt is basically a question or a request for something, like wording an email. It could be for the creation of an AI image or asking about information on a particular subject so ChatGPT can get to work for you. You need to build or write your prompt into ChatGPT’s window to ask a question.

When you get your answer back from ChatGPT, you need to copy and paste the result into the window of Microsoft Word or whatever other software you are using to create content. It’s a bit of an inconvenience and can break the workflow.

Often, something as simple as an inconvenience can stop the widespread adoption of a piece of technology like ChatGPT. Making that round trip to ChatGPT in a browser is one of the reasons why some people haven’t incorporated AI into their workflow.

Mouse and keyboard maker Logitech has anticipated this little roadblock and has addressed it by adding a new function to its Logi Options+ software with the Logi AI Prompt Builder. One click of a mouse or a key can overlay a ChatGPT prompt builder window directly over whatever content you are working on.

At first, I was a little skeptical of the idea but the more I tried it out, using an advanced beta version of Logi Options+, the more sense it began to make. Imagine you have a blank page staring back at you when trying to compose an email. Simply click your mouse and type in a few parameters, then click on one of Logitech’s ready-made prompt building recipes and the hard work is done for you.

Logitech has developed several basic AI prompt recipes for ChatGPT and there are sure to be more to come. You can use recipes like Rephrase, Create Email or Summarize, but you can also specify the tone you want (friendly, academic, professional or playful).

The prompt window also lets you select the length of the article or the word count you want. Then sit back and wait a few seconds. If you like what the prompt gives you, simply paste it straight into your app or else refine the prompt a little more.

The new Logi AI Prompt Builder is available from today via an update and it works within any app running on your PC or Mac. The beauty of the new feature is you don’t have to interrupt your workflow to summon up the power of AI ChatGPT. It seems so logical to harness AI in this way and a keyboard or mouse are the perfect interfaces to use.

To mark the launch of the new feature, Logitech is launching a limited edition of its excellent Signature 750 mouse but in an AI version. The new mouse will have a direct AI button, plus two more buttons for accessing ChatGPT directly and for turning on dictation so you can speak your prompt rather than type or paste it.

Pricing & Availability: The Logi AI Prompt Builder is free as part of the Logi Options+ software and is available from today. The Logitech Signature AI Edition Mouse will be available this month exclusively on Logitech.com in the United States and the United Kingdom priced at $49.99 / £54.99.
