Looking for Thursday’s Strands hints, spangram and answers? You can find them here:
It’s the first Friday of August, and then the first weekend of the month. It’s also the last weekend before my kids go back to school because school starts back up weirdly early here. My daughter will be in her Senior year and my son begins his first year of high school. Pretty wild to think about them both being teenagers. It’s trite, but they really do grow up shockingly fast.
I’m ready for the weekend, not that I have any exciting plans other than watching House Of The Dragon’s big Season 2 finale, which I think will be pretty spectacular. Maybe I’ll finally go see Twisters also. We shall see. For now, let’s solve today’s Strands!
Strands is the newest game in the New York Times’ stable of puzzle games. It’s a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we’re given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. Let’s solve today’s, shall we?

Today’s Strands Breakdown
This wasn’t as hard (for me at least) as the last couple Strands grids. I found the spangram—LOCATION—pretty much right away, and that made it a lot easier to find everything else. I did struggle getting the next word, because I thought location could still refer to lots of different things, but once I found BETWEEN, and then quickly discovered that it was between AMONG and UNDERNEATH, the rest came very quickly. THROUGH, BESIDE and—cleverly enough—ABOVE at the very top. I still think POSITION would have been a better spangram today (and would have fit just the same) but a fun puzzle, nonetheless.
