Soon after the rollout of Android 15 on Pixel phones, OnePlus has announced its Android 15-based OxygenOS 15. It focuses on enhancing the user experience with a refreshed design and smooth animations. You also get a bunch of new features in lock screen styles, icons, and more.

Plus, it’s now easier to share photos and videos with iPhone users. The new update is said to be 20% smaller than OxygenOS 14 on the next OnePlus flagship. There’s a lot to unpack and here’s everything you need to know about OxygenOS 15 features.

OxygenOS 15 Gets A New Design And Animations

OnePlus’ new user interface focuses on making the experience more fluid with smoother animations and better-looking icons.

Starting with design, it includes new icons for first-party apps like Photos, Settings, and Weather. It’s new, but nothing extraordinarily different. However, the icons retain the same color in both light and dark modes, which could be improved for a more dynamic look. The system UI sliders are now more circular, and you get additional wallpapers with filters similar to Nothing OS.

Another noticeable change comes to the notifications and quick settings pages. You can customize it to split into two pages, like on Xiaomi, Honor, or Apple phones. The lock screen customization is inspired by iOS, offering a similar menu for adjusting font, color, and theme of lock screen elements. It can also recognize objects so they don’t overlap with quick-glance elements like the clock.

There’s a Dynamic Island-like feature called Fluid Cloud that shows real-time notifications from apps, which is useful and appealing. You also get a slew of smaller changes like HDR live wallpapers, an updated charging animation, and a new two-tone color theme in the Settings menu for a cleaner look.

OnePlus has overhauled the animations in OxygenOS 15. In the briefing, the company emphasized the smoothness of the experience. OxygenOS 15 animations can now run in parallel, meaning you can trigger another animation while the first one is still in progress. I need more time with the beta to assess the improvement, but I like the feel of it.

The much-loved Open Canvas multitasking feature from OnePlus Open is also coming to slab phones, allowing users to run up to three apps simultaneously.

More AI

OxygenOS 15 introduces new AI features on the OnePlus 12. In the Photos app, you get a new AI Editor with four new options:

  • AI Detail Boost: Adds details to low-resolution images.
  • AI Eraser: Similar to Magic Eraser on Pixel phones, it can identify and remove distractions from photos.
  • AI Unblur: Can restore clarity to blurry shots.
  • AI Reflection Eraser: Removes reflections from images taken through glass windows for a clearer view.

Other AI features throughout the UI include Pass Scan in Camera, which can scan and save boarding passes in Google Wallet, additional features in the OnePlus Notes app, and an Intelligent Search feature that makes searching for information across apps easier. You also get Circle to Search and Gemini, which replaces Google Assistant on the new OS.

When Will My OnePlus Phone Get OxygenOS 15?

The beta rollout will be followed by a stable release later. For now, OnePlus will release the OxygenOS 15 beta for the OnePlus 12 on October 30. However, the AI features will be rolled out by the end of November. There’s no timeline for other devices yet, but the company will share more information on the rollout soon.

OxygenOS 15 is likely to be available on the OnePlus 10 Pro, 10T, 10R, 11, 11R, 12, 12R, and the OnePlus Open, along with some Nord series phones like the Nord 3 and Nord CE 3, CE 3 Lite.
