The D23 show in Brazil dropped just as much new information about the MCU as any other big Disney showcase, and it’s so much it’s a bit hard to get through. I figured I’d focus on the “magic” corner of the universe for the moment, given that Agatha All Along just ended and everyone wants to know where things go from there.

First, we have Marvel TV guru Brad Winderbaum giving the clearest indication so far that Agatha All Along may in fact shed its miniseries label and return for season 2. We’ve already seen indications of this with the show being submitted for Best Comedy at the Emmys rather than Best Limited Series, and now Winderbaum is almost spelling it out:

“I think we all want to see more adventures in Westview…”

Citing Westview specifically is interesting given that even with a second season of Agatha it seemed like they would fully leave Westview in order to find Tommy, the new mission of the show. Albeit if Tommy’s spirit was hovering nearby, it’s possible the “drowning kid” where he occupied his body is also nearby. Is there a lake in Westview?

The theories have always been that at least Wiccan would stay around, either with his own show (which was not announced) or just moving to Young Avengers. Neither of those projects have been confirmed. But Disney may have realized that yes, they should probably just keep making TV shows that feel like actual TV shows rather than mini-movies or projects that lead straight into something different. That was something Kevin Feige explicitly said, that they want to plan more multiple season shows and well, even if that was not the plan for Agatha, maybe they’re going to use this as an example of how to do that going forward with a season 2 renewal.

Now, a related topic, Scarlet Witch.

Kevin Feige is no longer bothering to pretend that Wanda Maximoff is permanently dead after the events of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. There was a theory that she would be revived at the end of Agatha, but that didn’t happen. Feige is saying it will happen however:

“All I can say is that we’re excited to find out when and how she can come back.”

Oh really Kevin, “you’re excited to find out”? I think you know man. But the rest of us? We can only speculate. There are probably three main options for when and how Scarlet Witch returns:

  • During Avengers: Doomsday, which would be the biggest stage for her re-arrival, and possibly the best option.
  • During the Vision series, where obviously that’s her husband and it would make sense if she got involved at some point there.
  • During Agatha All Along season 2/Wiccan, where that would be a place that would feature both her children.

My money is still on Avengers itself, however. I do not think we get through the end of this phase without seeing her again, and she may also prove to be a link to the X-Men going forward (which Feige also addressed and seemed to say they’d be involved in the Secret Wars).

Agatha season 2 is probably happening. Scarlet Witch’s resurrection is definitely happening. Very happy fans all around here, myself included.
