Samsung’s next folding phones are launched in summer each year, and the confirmation that the company’s next press event, Galaxy Unpacked, will take place on July 22 reveals that the next crop of foldables is coming, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. Here’s everything we can deduce about the next phones and exactly when they’ll go live.
Galaxy Unpacked Date And Location Confirmed
Wednesday, July 22 is the date for the event, Samsung confirmed online. As predicted, the location will be London and the time will be 2 p.m. British Summer Time, which is 9 a.m. Eastern, 6 a.m. Pacific.
Samsung Confirms What Will Be Revealed
In the same online post, Samsung also confirmed what’s coming. The post invites users to register. “When you register to be invited to Galaxy Unpacked for the newest Samsung Galaxy foldables and Galaxy Watches, you’ll receive the following benefits,” it said, before explaining that those who registered would be given an invite to the livestream.
Blog Post Hints At Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide
If you take a look at the top of the post, you’ll see a ticket being torn. Like other hints before it in a teaser campaign. Read about that here. his has a clue to the Galaxy Fold 8 Wide’s appearance — arguably the most anticipated item on the agenda.
The ticket, you see, if you imagine it whole, resembles the shape of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Tear off the top and there’s a new shape left behind, uncannily resembling what the Z Fold 8 Wide is thought to look like.
What The Date Means For The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide’s Pre-Orders
The keynote is a little later this year than last, July 22 against the Wednesday, July 9, 2025 event held in Brooklyn, New York.
Pre-orders began the same day, and the phones went on sale on Friday July 25, 2025.
Does the later date indicate that the phones weren’t ready to be announced earlier in the month? After all, the release of the Galaxy S26 series was later this year than last.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Predicted Release Date
If so, it’s likely that Samsung will follow the same schedule of opening pre-orders immediately and release the phones to go on sale two-and-a-half weeks later, which would mean Friday, Aug. 7.
The Wide will be an all-new shape, so it’s possible that technical challenges could mean the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will come later, but I don’t think so.
My best guess is we will see three foldable Galaxy phones — Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide — and two Galaxy Watches, and that they’ll all be available to buy on Friday, Aug. 7.
There are reports that the non-wide model could be called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. We’ll see.
