How does Samsung follow the successful launch of the Galaxy S24 family and the debut of Galaxy AI? It does it all again with its new foldables. Now, we know more about Samsung’s early launch date and its benefits.

The team at Sammobile has been tracking potential launch dates. “Multiple sources have now confirmed to SamMobile that Samsung has chosen July 10 as the date.” This date has been discussed for the next Galaxy Unpacked launch event since the Galaxy S24 release.

This Unpacked event is expected to launch the Galaxy Z FOld 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 foldable smartphones, and there are signs that a third premium handset—the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra—will also debut. Samsung has previously launched its foldable products at this summer event.

While the July 10 date is earlier than previous years (the last three summer Unpacked events took place on July 26, 2023, August 10, 2022, and August 11, 2021), two key factors should be considered.

The first is that Samsung is running 2024 with a snappier cadence. January 17 is one of the earliest Galaxy Unpacked events for nearly five years. Bringing the summer launch forward is a natural move.

The other factor is the Summer Olympics. These take place primarily in Paris between July 26 and August 10. Given Samsung is a major sponsor of the games, launching two cutting-edge handsets just before the Games where you will have a highly visible role and can attach the new technology to the superhuman athletes across multiple disciplines… it’s a tempting marketing opportunity that Samsung can leverage to great effect.
