Stellar Blade is not done putting out new content, albeit not some sort of large-scale expansion at this point. Rather, it’s crossing over with one of the games that inspired it, Nier: Automata. This was announced a while back, but now it has a release date. The 2B outfits (and a bunch of other things) are coming on November 20, and that’s also when the long-awaited Photo Mode arrives.

The details were announced on the PlayStation Blog, showing off a number of new additions. We have:

  • Emil, from Nier: Automata, is actually appearing in the game as a vendor that sells eleven(!) different crossover outfits, that “intertwine the best of both games.”
  • There are four new costumes being added plus one accessory outside of the Nier crossover items. We have to be getting close to 100 outfits at this point, it feels like.
  • The accessory, a pair of earrings, changes the appearance of Tachy Mode when you activate it.
  • You can now chop off Eve’s ponytail altogether in the settings of the game, which will lead to less absurd looking haircuts (albeit eliminating her signature feature. Well, signature head feature).
  • Photo Mode looks elaborate, lots of filters, lots of poses including a selfie angle and apparently being able to pose with your teammates. This has been in the works essentially since the game’s launch in April 2024, so it should be very involved.
  • Finally, there are a few combat changes too, like auto-targeting and ballistics correction that will apply to enemy insta-kill skills to “make the already intense and dynamic battles even more exciting.”

With the release of the PS5 Pro, it’s also been the case that Stellar Blade has been one of the games to benefit the most from the upgrades to resolution and framerate, specifically cited as an example of being a game worth the investment in the hardware.

SHIFT UP has repeatedly said that the success of Stellar Blade will lead to future expansions and a sequel, though we do not have any firm details on those as of yet. So far as I can tell this is the end of the known roadmap, but I doubt that things are done being added to the game. We have to reach that 100 outfit mark after all, right?
