Battlestate Games famously never communicates any release dates until they are sure they can hit them, but it now seems that the next Escape From Tarkov wipe will not launch this week as the community previously believed.
It now appears that the earliest the new Escape From Tarkov wipe will be next week, likely August 15 given the tendency to release major updates on Thursdays, however a release earlier in the week is not out of the question.
This all comes from a series of tweets from Dmitri Ogorodnikov, the head of PR at Battlestate Games, where he revealed that the wipe is still planned for August and that a release date will be communicated soon. But he also revealed that the usual pre-wipe events are still planned and will be coming before the wipe. Considering we had had slightly modified versions of pre-wipe events over the past couple of weeks, this has caught the community by surprise.
We have already had the free labs access event, which this time was spun out into a full event with a quest line, and this past weekend we had an event focused on Mechanic that impacted some of the changes expected in the next wipe. However, Ogorodnikov’s tweets suggest that we will still be getting other usual pre-wipe events such as the fire sale where items are sold by traders at a reduced price and an increase in boss spawn rates on maps.
Given that these pre-wipe events last for multiple days it now seems somewhat unlikely the expected release date of August 8 will be hit, unless we are about to get a wild 24 hours with all events added.
So now all signs are pointing to a release later in the month. As the teases of new content have ramped up in recent days it would suggest the wipe is imminent, giving credit to the theory that next week could be when we finally get the patch. However, as with anything related to Escape From Tarkov, until we get a confirmed release date nothing is set in stone.
Of course, when the wipe does arrive, we know that we are in for a lot of new content. There’s the new factory map layout, new hideout areas to unlock, new weapons and presumably the new boss who was teased earlier in the week. If you want to find out more, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Tarkov wipe.
