There’s still no official release date for the next Escape From Tarkov wipe, but we do now know that there will be a Twitch Drops campaign running as it launches, as is usually the case of the end of year wipes.

In a post on the official Escape From Tarkov social media accounts, the team at Battlestate Games revealed that a new summer Twitch Drops campaign will be launching soon, which will almost certainly launch shortly after the new wipe.

The new Twitch Drops campaign will likely allow you to watch Twitch streamers playing Tarkov and then offer in game rewards based on the amount of time you watch. Typically, these in game rewards range from very low value in game items such as toilet paper and random attachments through to things you typically wouldn’t unlock until much later in the wipe such as ammo cases or even bitcoins.

In previous campaigns rewards have been handed out for watching just an hour of someone playing Tarkov, but the bigger rewards often require you to watch for upwards of five hours a day, so it’s not guaranteed that you’ll be able to claim them all.

There is no date for when the campaign will launch, but it will almost certainly be a day or two after the next wipe launches. Given the wipe did not launch today, then August 15 seems like the most likely release date, although we are still waiting for the promised pre-wipe events which will precede the wipe by a few days. If they don’t arrive soon then we could be looking much later in August for the wipe release.

Typically, Battlestate Games does not do a Twitch Drops campaign for the summer wipe, instead reserving them for the winter wipes, which are typically seen as much bigger than the one in summer. However, given the controversy over the past wipe of the Unheard Edition and PvE mode launch, as well as the recent mistake of accidentally wiping player’s progress and not being able to restore it, this is likely an attempt to bring back players who have sworn off the game.

The new wipe is expected to be somewhat smaller than usual, but will bring with it the reworked Factory map, new hideout additions and likely a brand new boss who was teased earlier in the week. There should also be a lot of other fun surprises for players as the developers like to sneak in a few unannounced changes with every wipe.
