A new Escape From Tarkov patch has been announced and is set to launch tomorrow, March 28, with the game going down for a few hours while it is installed.

The new Escape From Tarkov patch will be installed at 7:00 AM GMT/ 03:00 AM EDT on March 28, with the installation expected to take four hours. During these four hours, the game will not be available and servers will be down.

There is currently no news on what the update will entail, with the patch notes usually launching once the patch installation gets underway. However, that hasn’t stopped fans from making suggestions as to what they want to see included.

The most common request is an improved anti-cheat system, with many players feeling that the cheating issue in Tarkov is the worst it ever has been, despite over 33,000 cheaters being banned a few weeks ago bringing the total bans for this wipe up to a massive 44,000. Even with the massive amount of bans, community hubs such as the Tarkov sub-Reddit are filled with complaints about cheaters, with many players dropping out of the game due to the amount they think they encounter.

While there are guaranteed to be some cheaters in the game, many in the community feel that developers Battlestate Games could be doing more to combat them. Features such as phone verification or better reporting options could help combat cheaters, and many hope that the new patch will add some extra tools to detect them.

Elsewhere the hope is that this patch will bring some balance changes or new content as it has been a while since anything changed in the world of Takrov. While we know we will have to wait until the next wipe in a few months for any major changes, we have typically seen some new additions and big changes during previous wipes. This year however, the big patches have been limited to the addition of microtransactions and it very much still feels like the same game we were playing in December last year.

Some people also think that the patch could almost entirely feature April fools related pranks. In previous years we have seen some troll items or jokes added to the game around April 1st, and with that date just a few days away it would not be a surprise if that is what we end up getting. If that is the case, then we may end up with a very barebones set of patch notes tomorrow as the devs try to hide what they have added until the big day.
