In case you missed Monday’s NYT Mini, you can find the answers here:

Wondering what a poker player’s giveaway is? Not sure what Jason stars in Dune? Don’t worry, because I’m here to help you with the answers for today’s NYT Mini crossword.

The NYT Mini is a quick and dirty version of the newspaper’s larger and long-running crossword. Most days, there are between three and five clues in each direction on a five by five grid, but the puzzles are sometimes larger, especially on Saturdays.

Unlike its larger sibling, the NYT Mini crossword is free to play on the New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, you’ll need an NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives.

To help you avoid getting stuck and having to reveal missing letters, here are the NYT Mini Crossword answers for Tuesday, August 13 (spoilers lie ahead, of course):

NYT Mini Crossword Clues And Answers

Across

1 Across: Gymnastics surfaces – MATS

5 Across: They might be raised by something exciting – HOPES

6 Across: More than enough – AMPLE

7 Across: Highway payment – TOLL

8 Across: Food for farm animals – HAY

Down

1 Down: Actor Jason of Dune – MOMOA

2 Down: Submit one’s résumé – APPLY

3 Down: Poker player’s giveaway – TELL

4 Down: Direction that’s down and a little to the right: Abbr. – SSE

5 Down: “Hell ___ no fury like …” – HATH

It took me 0:48 to complete today’s NYT Mini.

MATS and TOLL were the only words I got on my first pass at the Across clues, likewise for APPLY, TELL and HATH on the Down hints. I haven’t seen Dune but I should have at least figured out MOMOA on the first pass. I found it quite clever to see HOPES literally rising on the diagonal once I finished the crossword.
