In case you missed Tuesday’s NYT Mini, you can find the answers here:

Wondering what kind of chain you might wish to be off? Not sure what a late riser is (stereotypically, at least)? Don’t worry, because I’m here to help you with the answers for today’s NYT Mini crossword.

The NYT Mini is a quick and dirty version of the newspaper’s larger and long-running crossword. Most days, there are between three and five clues in each direction on a five by five grid, but the puzzles are sometimes larger, especially on Saturdays.

Unlike its larger sibling, the NYT Mini crossword is free to play on the New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, you’ll need an NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives.

To help you avoid getting stuck and having to reveal missing letters, here are the NYT Mini Crossword answers for Wednesday, August 14 (spoilers lie ahead, of course):

It took me 0:35 to complete today’s NYT Mini.

My speedy time feels pretty deceptive, as I found today’s crossword a little difficult. I got SLEEP and HILLY on my first pass of the Across clues, but DITTO could have been “me too” and I initially thought TEEN was “lazy” (not that I think there’s anything wrong with being a late riser, I certainly am on weekends). No time to think about those too much though, I just had to move on.

It took the first four Down answers (I didn’t know 5 Down) to make the Across words clear. I was then able to complete the Across clues on my second pass. EMAIL was a bit of a tricky clue, I found.
