Today’s ‘Wordle’ #1130 Hints, Clues And Answer For Tuesday, July 23rd

Looking for Monday’s Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here:

I keep thinking we’re later in the month than we are. I’ve been having so much fun that time has actually slowed down a bit—so much for “time flies when you’re having fun”. Then again, sometimes it really does and it drags when you’re bored. Contrarily, when you mix up your routine and do fun stuff you normally wouldn’t—like go on a vacation—the routine is disrupted and the days don’t blur together quite so much and time slows down.

It’s a paradox. Then again, time is a pretty baffling concept to begin with.

Let’s do this Wordle!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: Like a fork.

The Clue: This Wordle has far more consonants than vowels.

Okay, spoilers below!

Can you solve today’s phrase?

The Answer:

Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

STALE was a super unlucky opening guess. I swear, every time I do something similar to SLATE or CRANE (the Wordle Bot’s favorites) I get all grey boxes and no love. Thankfully, BOUGH slashed away at the 314 words I had remaining, leaving me with just 9. GROIN was so close to being a great guess, but I still had two to choose from: PRONG and WRONG. I was tempted to go with WRONG simply because it would be annoying to get it wrong and have that be the Wordle. Then I thought, well it would be even more annoying to guess WRONG and have it be wrong. So I guessed PRONG and snagged the win! Huzzah!

Competitive Wordle Score

A total wash. 0 points for guessing in four and 0 for tying the Bot.

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “prong” originates from Middle English, where it was spelled as “pronge.” This term is derived from the Old English word “prānga,” which referred to a sharp, pointed instrument. The word is also related to the Old Norse word “prangr,” meaning a pin or spike. The concept of “prong” has consistently been associated with something sharp and pointed, typically referring to the tines of a fork or similar objects.
