Yes, I am lucky today on many levels. I guessed PEARL because of a girl and actually, my second guess—LAGER—was because of her as well. The stars have aligned and so the stars aligned for today’s Wordle. Serendipity and all that. Huzzah!

Competitive Wordle Score

I get 2 points for guessing in two and another point for beating the Bot, who took four tries today. Take that, silly Wordle Bot!

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word lager comes from the German word “lagern,” which means “to store.” It refers to a type of beer that is stored or aged in cool conditions for extended periods. The term became associated with the beer itself, which is brewed using bottom-fermenting yeast and is typically aged at low temperatures, resulting in a clean, crisp taste. The practice of storing beer in cool cellars or caves for aging led to the term lager being used to describe this style of beer.
