Looking for Tuesday’s Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here:

My how time flies when you’re having fun. Or when you’re not having fun! Time just seems to fly and fly with no regard for us mere mortals. We’re just a day away from Halloween. I’ve settled on a costume: The Dude from The Big Lebowski. I even found the exact clothing he wore, so I’ve bought that instead of a costume. The real sweater, the pajama pants, the sunglasses. It’s the kind of stuff you can wear anytime. It’s funny, the Dude was such a bum but he wore nice, designer clothes and sported expensive shades. Go figure.

It’s Wordle Wednesday, so here’s your riddle:

I can start a war or end one. I can give you the strength of heroes or leave you powerless. I might be snared with a glance, but no force can compel me to stay. What am I?

I’ll post the answer tomorrow, but feel free to message me if you solved it!

In any case, it’s Wordle time!

Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

PEARL was, once again, a great starting guess. With 11 words left, you’d think things might have gone better for me, especially since I had so many boxes already. I very nearly guessed STEAL next, but I worried that I’d have too many possible answers if I didn’t try for more letters. BUNGS was an attempt to slash as many possible words as I could, and it almost worked like a charm. With EASEL and STEAL remaining, I went with my first choice and . . . alas, I was wrong. EASEL for the win!

Competitive Wordle Score

0 for tying the Bot, 0 for guessing in four. Big fat zero all around!

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word easel comes from the Dutch word ezel, which means “donkey.” This term was borrowed in the 16th century, reflecting the idea of a donkey as a supportive beast of burden, akin to how an easel supports a canvas for painting. Over time, easel was adopted in English with the same meaning.
