Looking for Saturday’s Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here:
Here we are at last. It’s the first of December and the beginning of 2024’s home stretch. It’s hard to believe that the year is almost over and that the quarter-century mark is just a month away. 25 years into the 21st century. Will we make it all the way to 2100? Most of us won’t, of course, unless we somehow unlock the key to eternal life in the next few decades. But our children and grandchildren might. What sort of world will it be, 75 years and one month from now?
For now, we can only wonder—and solve this Wordle, of course.

Wordle Analysis
Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.
I very rarely guess starting words with three vowels, preferring to use two in each of my two opening guesses, but today RAISE popped into my head and I’m lucky it did. With green boxes for A and E, I had a strong start and just 32 words remaining. I decided to go with all new letters for my second guess, and I used a ‘U’ word because I could think of a handful of words that included that vowel.
I came up with GULCH to eliminate as many letters as possible, and was left with just two choices at this point: MAUVE or TAUPE. I actually didn’t even think of TAUPE and learned that it was an option doing my Wordle Bot analysis. A bit odd that both the final two words happened to be colors that also happen to be paired with one another frequently. At least I chose the right one!
Competitive Wordle Score
Just like yesterday, I get 1 point for guessing in three and another for beating the Bot who took four tries today. 2 points for me! Huzzah!

Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word mauve comes from the French term for the mallow plant (malva in Latin), whose flowers have a similar pale purple color. The dye mauveine, discovered in 1856 by William Henry Perkin, was named after this plant because of its resemblance to the flower’s hue. The term entered English usage shortly after, referring both to the color and the synthetic dye.
