Undisputed, the new boxing video game was released for fans who pre-ordered the WBC Edition on October 8. It drops worldwide on October 11.

While the game released with 81 unique fighters, some of which are playable in multiple weight classes, and three have alternate versions from different parts of their career, more boxers are coming to the roster via DLC.

Before taking on the name Undisputed, the boxing project developed by Steel City Interactive was called eSports Boxing Club. This video announced the name change back in 2022.

In 2021, the game’s official YouTube account began sharing announcements regarding former and present fighters who had agreed to be a part of the roster.

Here is an example of one of the roster announcement videos. This one reveals the upcoming addition of Shakur Stevenson.

Many of the fighters in those announcements are already a part of the launch roster, but there are as many who were not included when the game was released.

I caught up with the head of SCI, Ash Habib, to discuss the game’s launch, future updates, and boxing in general.

“There are fighters that I signed four years ago who haven’t made it into Day 1,” Habib said. “It’s just about making sure that we’ve got a good order for these fighters to come in. One thing I don’t want to do is make these fighters feel like they’re just different skins.”

I asked Habib if all the fighters previously announced during the ESBC days would be added to the Undisputed roster. He said, “absolutely,” but there are no specific dates.

“Right now, we’re figuring out the road map for what it looks like for all of those fighters,” Habib said. “We’re making sure we’re doing justice to these guys with the overall level that we’ve now reached. Right now, all of the fighters that we’ve announced previously, absolutely they are on the roster. They’re people we’ve signed into the game. Right now, it’s just in terms of when; When can we physically fit these fighters into the game? We’ll be releasing more information on that down the road.”

Here is a clip of that portion of our conversation:

There are at least 25 fighters on this list that would make a significant impact on the roster. Perhaps chief among them are Shakur Stevenson, Wladimir Klitschko, and Timothy Bradley. Adding those three to an upcoming DLC package would be a noteworthy addition to the game’s roster.

Again, we don’t know the timetable for any of these fighters, but according to Habib, they all are on the roadmap at some point. That’s not to say that new additions like Jake Paul, Mike Tyson, Artur Beterbiev, Daniel Dubois, or Anthony Joshua couldn’t or won’t take priority if they’re added to the roster.

I have a sneaky suspension that Paul and Tyson could be a part of the first roster update sometime next month. Stay tuned for more information, especially details of the first gameplay and roster updates.
