Sheamus doesn’t have to worry about Drew McIntyre changing his mantra from Banger After Banger to Burger After Burger anymore.
The Celtic Warrior took to social media on September 3 to show off his chiseled physique. It looks as if he’s been clanging more weights than forks and spoons.
In case you need to see where Sheamus came from physically to understand the depth of his body transformation, look at this then-and-now image from WrestleLamia, which the Celtic Warrior reposted:
Sheamus is known for his rigorous workout routines. He has previously worked with other WWE Superstars and posted their workouts on his YouTube channel.
Because of Sheamus’ reputation as a workout warrior, it’s unsurprising that he got into excellent shape. However, the speed with which he chopped the weight off is impressive. Sheamus, whose real name is Stephen Farrelly, is 46 years old. He’s listed at 6 foot 3 inches and 267 pounds. Having met him, I’d say the height measurement is accurate.
The weight can obviously fluctuate, but when he gained pounds and returned to WWE programming, he looked to be well over the 300-pound mark. Sheamus is probably much closer to the 267-pound mark now, which is the right look for his character, and he generally looks healthier.
Four months ago, McIntyre burned Sheamus with the “Burger after Burger” mic work.
During the mic work–which was excellent on both sides and should potentially be revisited–Sheamus told McIntyre, “I can lose the weight. You can’t lose stupid.”
Well, Sheamus made good on his word, but since then, McIntyre has continued to do the best work of his career, but CM Punk has repeatedly one-upped his character. Punk took a pretty brutal beating, complete with an additional vicious attack from McIntyre, while the former lay prone on a stretcher.
The selling of the attack suggests Punk could be taking some time off WWE programming to rest up after a physical Strap Match at Bash in Berlin vs. McIntyre. Most recently, McIntyre got some sweet revenge, decimating Punk while destroying the bracelet the two have fought over like a WWE championship for the past two months.
As for Sheamus, he’s fresh from taking a whack in the back with a shillelagh from Pete Dunne. It seems there could be a match between Sheamus and Dunne coming up at Bad Blood with a potential run-in from Trick Williams–another guy Dunne has had smoke with recently.
I’ve struggled to get into the Sheamus-Dunne feud, as the latter hasn’t shown or been allowed to display the mic work necessary to power an intense program on WWE’s main roster platform. Sheamus is a legend, but he needs a dance partner.
At this stage of his career, if he is going to have one more solid run, he will need to be plugged in with an opponent who has enough overall presence to help him move the needle.
In any case, Sheamus will be fit for a banger the next time he’s featured in a match.
