While everyone believes they have found the actress who plays Lucia in Grand Theft Auto 6, Manni L. Perez, neither she nor Rockstar have confirmed it. However, we may have our first real GTA 6 actor/musician/something confirmed to be in the game.
That would be, of all people, T-Pain.
The rapper revealed the news on a recent livestream, where he said that Rockstar told him that because he was now working on GTA 6, that he could no longer be in the GTA 5 role play communities he was in, and had to stop playing RP altogether.
“I used to be on NoPixel, then I started working on GTA 6, and they told me I couldn’t do RP anymore because it kind of goes against…they had this whole speech, like, ‘What if somebody took your album and re-recorded it, and more people were listening to that,’ and I’m like, ‘Okay, I kind of get that, but I was having a good time. Alright that’s fine,'” T-Pain said.
T-Pain goes on to say that Rockstar ended up teaming up with the roleplay people after he stopped playing, confusing him about why they asked him to stop in the first place. This was part of past news back in August that Rockstar had scooped up Cfx.re, the team behind the biggest roleplay communities FiveM and RedM, and had them officially join the company.
Of course the biggest news here is not that T-Pain can’t play GTA 5 RP anymore, it’s that…T-Pain is in GTA 6, somehow. Given that he’s “working on” the game, that would seem like something more involved that just having the game license some of his songs or something like that.
T-Pain only rarely acts but has done a little bit of voicework for various projects. One important thing to know here is that the “T” in T-Pain stands for “Tallahassee,” where he was born and raised. Given that GTA 6 takes place in Rockstar’s fictional version of Florida, Leonida, the collaboration makes some amount of sense if they’re trying to channel that side of the community down there. No telling if Flo Rida, Trick Daddy, or Pitbull have gotten a phone call as well.
It is very likely the case that T-Pain probably wasn’t supposed to talk about working on GTA 6 at all. We’ve heard no confirmations from anyone else about an appearance in the game, though again, it’s still not clear if he’s actually voicing/performance capturing a character or not. But that seems likely, given the context and well, his love of GTA 5 role play. More to come, but probably not for a while.
