Kensington Launches New Thunderbolt 5 Dock With Triple 4K Support

Computing brand Kensington has entered the Thunderbolt 5 market with the launch of its new SD5010T5 EQ Thunderbolt 5 Docking Station It’s a high-performance Thunderbolt 5 dock offering next-generation data speeds, multi-display support and simple connectivity.

The SD5010T5 has been designed to reduce or eliminate the data bottlenecks experienced in many modern workflows, such as 8K editing and AI applications. The new dock combines high data transfer speeds with multi-display support and powerful charging capabilities, all through a single cable with speeds up to 80Gbps.

“Thunderbolt™ 5 sets a new standard for performance, and the SD5010T5 is designed to make that power practical and accessible for everyday professionals,” says Giovanni Sena, Kensington SVP and general manager. “By combining ultra-fast speeds, triple 4K display support, and versatile 13-in-1 connectivity in a single-cable solution, the new dock enables users to fully harness Thunderbolt™ 5 technology to create more productive, streamlined workspaces.”

Data-Intensive Workflows

Designed for creators, engineers and anyone handling large data files and demanding workflows, the SD5010T5 EQ Thunderbolt 5 Docking Station is built to boost productivity thanks to the 80Gbps of bi-directional bandwidth of Thunderbolt 5, while also offering a bandwidth boost of up to 120Gbps for video-intensive workflows.

Flexibility is essential when multitasking, creating content or producing immersive visual projects. The SD5010T5 can support up to three 4K displays with a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz. Alternatively, the dock can drive two 8K displays at 60Hz when used with Windows laptops by using two HDMI ports and a Thunderbolt 5 port.

For Apple MacBook computers equipped with M4/M5 base chips and M-Series Pro and Max chipsets, the new Kensington dock can support twin 4K displays running at 60Hz over two HDMI ports. It can also drive one 4K display at 60Hz and one display at up to 6K by using the Thunderbolt 5 port. When paired with the latest M5 Pro or M5 Max chips, the SD5010T5 can handle up to three external displays.

140W Power Delivery

The Kensington SD5010T5 supports USB-C PD 3.1 for power and connectivity, enabling laptops to be powered and charged with up to 140W of dynamic power delivery. KonstantCharge enables connected devices to charge even if the laptop is undocked.

The new dock has a 13-in-1 design for working with a range of computer setups. For example, a single Thunderbolt 5 cable can expand a laptop’s connectivity by adding two Thunderbolt 5 ports, two HDMI video ports, one USB-A 10Gbps port, two USB-A 5Gbps ports, two USB-C 10Gbps ports, an audio combo jack, two SD/Micro SD 4.0 slots, plus a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port.

Using the dock’s built-in SD and microSD slots, photographers, graphic designers, video editors and animators can import content held on memory cards. The SD5010T5 supports ultra-fast and efficient data transfer speeds from its SD and microSD card readers back to the host laptop or desktop computer.

Universal Compatibility

Like any good docking station, the SD5010T5 is compatible with a range of different devices and operating systems and this model can support Thunderbolt 5, Thunderbolt 4, USB4 and USB-C devices running Windows 11 and macOS 14.5 or later.

For use in hybrid and hot-desking environments, the dock has a zero-footprint mounting option and includes security cable lock slots to ensure the dock stays put. Kensington sells an optional K34050WW mounting bracket that can maximize available desk space by mounting the dock out of the way.

To get the most out of this new dock, Kensington has developed its free DockWorks software. The software enables Windows users to customize their dock for the optimal connection, performance and security. The outer casing of the SD5010T5 is made from 100% post-consumer recycled aluminum and all the product packaging is FSC-certified.
