The support card carries real names. Former two-division titlist Stephen Fulton faces Liam Wilson, and former middleweight champion Jermall Charlo returns against Koen Mazoudier as he tries to rebuild his own résumé.
The one belt on the night is the vacant IBF Inter-Continental light heavyweight strap, with local favorite Paulo Aokuso in against Luis Antonio Tejeda. It is a card built to keep the Sydney crowd invested from early.
What’s at Stake for Spence and Tszyu?
It’s hard to imagine the loser of this fight having much of a future in the sport. Don’t get me wrong, plenty of fighters just kind of stick around. I don’t see Spence or Tszyu being those kinds of fighters, but who knows? We’ll find out soon.
Spence, 36, hasn’t fought since the 2023 stoppage loss to Terence Crawford, and this comeback is being staged at 160 pounds after starting life as a 158-pound catchweight. A winner steps into a shark tank of a division headlined by unified 154-pound champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis.
