Saturn’s day is here and hopefully a lovely fun Memorial Day weekend for everyone. My plan is to spend Monday afternoon playing D&D with my friends, and to spend the days leading up to it on house projects, yard work and all that jazz.
On top of Wordle, I’m also writing this week’s Strands guides. If you haven’t played that NYT game yet, you really ought to—it’s fun!

Well I got awfully lucky today. I’m not really sure why I guessed STAIN for my opener. It just popped into my head and I figured I’d try it out. The only way I could have been luckier is if I’d guessed TITAN, which was the only word left. Hole in two! Huzzah!

How To Play Competitive Wordle
Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word “titan” comes from Greek mythology, where it referred to the Titans, a race of powerful deities who were the offspring of Uranus (Sky) and Gaia (Earth). The term in Ancient Greek is “Τιτάν” (Titán), and it was adopted into Latin as “Titan.”
The Titans were known for their enormous size and strength, and they played a crucial role in the mythological tales of the ancient Greeks, particularly in the Titanomachy, the war between the Titans and the Olympian gods. Over time, the word “titan” came to be used more broadly to describe anything of great size or power.
