Pre-orders for the new Ultimate Edition Blu-ray boxset for Macross Plus are now open, and the release date is a lot sooner than expected.
Currently, both Crunchyroll and AllTheAnime have opened up pre-orders for the Macross Plus Ultimate Edition Blu-ray box set.
Crunchyroll is covering the US release, with the boxset costing $189.99 and releasing on September 30. Whereas, AllTheAnime are handling European distribution and charging £99.99 with an October release date.
Both versions are identical as far as I can make out, including the 184 page artbook, 9 art cards and a poster, as well as the Blu-rays for both the OVA and movie version of Macross Plus.
There will also be a ton of extras on the discs, with various interviews and other promos. The additional dubs from the original 90s release all seem to be included as well, which is nice.
If you’re curious about Macross Plus, then feel free to check out my review of the Japanese Blu-ray boxset, as well as the interviews I’ve done with Shoji Kawamori, Kazutaka Miyatake, Shinichiro Watanabe and Yoko Kanno.
It’s taken a good while since we got the news that the Macross licensing issues were (mostly) cleaned up, but I am very glad that we will have one the best mecha anime of the 90s widely available on Blu-ray after all these years.
