‘Metroid Prime 4’ Looks Incredible And Sylux Is Along For The Ride

It’s been a very long time since we heard anything about Metroid Prime 4, but we now have a new trailer and the game looks great. Not to mention that Sylux is back.

Sylux was a character introduced in Metroid Prime Hunters and also had secret endings in Metroid Prime Federation Force and Metroid Prime 3. A rival bounty hunter to Samus Aran, it’s clear that Sylux will have a big role to play in Metroid Prime 4.

As for the game, its seems that the recent and excellent Metroid Prime Remastered was somewhat of a dry run for this new game. The backend tech and graphical delivery for Metroid Prime 4 look very much inline with what we saw in Metroid Prime Remastered, and that makes me very happy.

However, the main thing that bothers me now is that we really need Switch versions of both Metroid Prime 2 and 3. Mainly because, most people won’t know what happened after the first game. The last release of the previous two games was on Metroid Prime Trilogy back in 2009 for the Wii. Admittedly, that was made available on the WiiU in 2015, but even then, that’s nearly a decade ago.

The other aspect to all this is that Metroid Prime 3 was pretty definitive in terms of how the story arc ended. With the Prime games meant as a sidestory of sorts set between Metroid and Metroid II.

Obviously, the foreshadowing with Sylux in earlier games means there has been some kind of plan for what happens after the original Prime trilogy, but what with Phazon effectively gone, how will the story work in the context of the other Prime games?

All that aside, I am also very happy that we now have Metroid Zero Mission to play on the Switch as well, which means we have most of the Metroid games available on the system. Now if only Nintendo would release remasters for Metroid Prime 2 and 3.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be released for the Switch next year.
