New Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Price Lands Before Pixel 9 Release

New Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Price Lands Before Pixel 9 Release

Samsung and Google have repeatedly slashed prices for their respective flagship phones this year. Either by raising trade-in prices, discounting the hardware, or emailing random vouchers to their customers.

Ahead of the Pixel 9 release, Samsung has again launched a new promotion for the Galaxy S24 by temporarily enhancing trade-in prices for old smartphones. If you’re not familiar with the Korean company’s trade-in deals, you’ll know that they’re often generous.

The new trade-in values don’t match the prices that Samsung offered a few weeks ago when the Galaxy Z Fold 6 launched, or even the current prices for its foldable tech.

For example, Samsung valued the Galaxy Z Fold 4 at $1000 when buying the Fold 6, whereas it’s only worth $450 right now when purchasing the Galaxy S24 Ultra. But there are still some good prices here if you dig around.

  • Galaxy S22 Ultra – $650
  • Galaxy S22 Plus – $500
  • Galaxy S21 Plus – $400
  • Galaxy S20 Ultra – $400
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max – $350
  • iPhone 14 Pro – $400

The worst trade-in values are for saved for Google’s tech, with the $1,799 Pixel Fold being priced at $300—the highest Samsung will offer for a Pixel phone. It’s worth pointing out that the Z Fold 6 costs a lot more than the S24Ultra, so the company can give more away for older handsets.

These values are still higher than Google and Apple’s current trade-in prices. For example, Google will pay up to $200 for the Pixel 7 Pro compared to Samsung’s $300 valuation, or up to $205 for the Galaxy S22 (the 1042GB model) against Samsung’s $650 price.

The numbers look better on the Apple store. The company will pay $620 for the iPhone 14 Pro Max (when buying the iPhone 15 Pro Max) compared to Samsung’s $500. Whereas both companies are offering $350 for the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Prices drop for Android handsets, though, with Apple only paying $235 for the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Elsewhere, Samsung is giving away a $300 store credit with every Galaxy Z Fold 6 purchase, with the not-so-subtle hint to “complete your Galaxy AI family.” $300 is close to what several of its new Galaxy Watches, Galaxy Ring and earbuds cost, especially with the bundle discount when the phone and a wearable are bought together.

If you’re looking to buy a new phone, this deal runs until August 31st, so it might be worth waiting to see what Google has in store when it announces new handsets on August 13th.
