Native Union, the premium tech company based in Paris, has just launched a small but potent wireless charger. And its clever design means it does more than you might expect. Here are full details.
It’s a compact, circular device, sized to perfectly match the shape of the MagSafe connector on the back of a compatible iPhone. The puck opens up and a soft rubbery connector that holds the two halves together lets you fold it out to become twin circles. One has the MagSafe connector, the other an Apple Watch fast-charge puck.
The supplied braided 5-foot USB-C cable connects to the top edge of the Apple Watch side so you can charge an iPhone and an Apple Watch, or compatible AirPods case at the same time. The Watch puck folds up so you can see the display in its NightStand orientation.
All of which is pretty neat, and it looks great, but we haven’t got to the really clever bit yet.
The Voyage is designed in a way where you can fold the halves together and snap it to the back of an iPhone. It’s perfectly sized and weighted so that you can set it as a hands-free display stand for StandBy, even if there’s an Apple Watch on the back.
The whole thing is so small and light that it’s perfect as a travel device, but also good-looking enough to suit the most elegant of settings.
It’s a Qi2 charger, so it will work with compatible non-Apple devices, too. It comes in two colors, sandstone which is a pleasant, off-white finish, or black. It’s just gone on sale and is available from nativeunion.com.
The company also makes iPhone cases, eye-catching cables, MagSafe chargers, Apple Watch bands, laptop sleeves and more. The brand is characterized by high-quality, stylish and unusual devices, with a great sense of color and an excellent tech carry case called the Stow Organizer.
The Voyage was first teased at the tech trade show CES back in January, but it’s now on sale. It costs $99.99, £89.99 in the U.K.
