Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra Gets First Major Discount In New Sale

Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra Gets First Major Discount In New Sale

Following Samsung’s major Galaxy Z Fold 6 sale, the company has given the Galaxy Watch Ultra its first serious discount since it landed in July.

The Korean company has knocked $145 off the wearable, bringing the price down to $504.98. Over $500 is still a lot of money for Samsung’s premium smartwatch, but the size of the discount gives us an insight into the company’s upcoming Black Friday pricing.

Samsung has repeatedly discounted all of its wearables if they’re bought as part of a bundle with a smartphone, knocking up to 25% off accessories. However, the lone discount for the Galaxy Watch Ultra suggests that the company will repeat a similar price cut during the Black Friday sales next month.

The $145 price cut comes with enhanced trade in prices that go up to $350 for your old smartwatch. The highest figures are reserved for newer devices, such as the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, Galaxy Watch 6, Apple Watch Ultra and Apple Watch Ultra 2. Obviously, I wouldn’t recommend trading new devices for other new devices. But there are some prices for older wearables here that are worth highlighting.

  • Apple Watch Series 6 – $250
  • Apple Watch Series 5 -$200
  • Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic – $300
  • Garmin Forerunner 255 – $150

Samsung is offering a flat $100 fee for Fitbit, Fossil and any other smartwatch. At first glance, this isn’t a good deal if you paid top dollar for a smartwatch from one of these companies, but it also reflects the reality of how consumers value smartwatches that are not made by Samsung, Apple, or Garmin.

If you own a Fitbit, Fossil, Amazfit, or any other brand you can try your luck on the secondary market. But if the device is older than three years (you shouldn’t trade in any devices that are under three years old) you likely won’t sell it for more than $100.

Also, if you have a very old smartwatch lying around then it’s worth taking Samsung up on its deal. The trade in page clearly states that Samsung will pay $100 for “any smartwatch” in “any condition.” It might be worth picking one up for dirt cheap from a second hand shop to get that extra $100 discount.

The only Samsung accessory that has resolutely remained at full price is the Galaxy Ring, which is still yet to be discounted by the Korean company. Although other retailers, such as Amazon, have discounted the smart ring at certain sizes. If Samsung does decide to slash the Ring’s price, I suspect that will be one of the more popular Black Friday deals this year.
