A new bug in Escape From Tarkov is wiping player’s progress when it comes to trader reputation and achievements, and no one seems to have any idea why it is happening.
A couple of hours ago some Tarkov players started reporting that they had lost reputation with traders and that some of their achievements had disappeared. Initially there were only a couple of reports of this, but in the hours since many other players have reported the same thing, showing that it is clearly a widespread issue impacting a large section of the player base.
I’m obviously not logging in to test it, but it seems that players’ reputation levels with traders are being reset to much lower values, sometimes costing them multiple levels with that trader. Some players who had max level traders have reported being reset back to level two, with seemingly no explanation.
There also seems to be some players reporting that progress towards achievements or some tasks has also been wiped, which is incredibly annoying.
While not confirmed, there are reports that players in the controversial PvE mode are not being impacted by this bug, and it seems to be limited to PvP players only. This has led many to believe that the update to Escape From Tarkov Arena earlier today has caused these issues, with it being tied to the cross progression between both games for PvP players.
There is no word from Battlestate Games on this issue just yet, but a technical update was deployed earlier today, which again could have caused this issue. Some players are claiming they rep has returned to normal, but this seems to be isolated incidents at the minute, so my advice is to stay away from Tarkov until this bug is fixed.
A similar bug popped up just before the last wipe, and due to the fact all progress was due to be wiped shortly after anyway, the development team just offered in game compensation to those effected. This time, with almost two months to go before the next wipe, they will likely need to find some kind of fix.
Some players on the Escape From Tarkov sub-Reddit questioned if this was part of the ongoing Halloween event that has added zombies to Tarkov. However, given this has happened before and the fact it doesn’t seem to have any in game reason to happen, my money is on this being a bug and not related to the event in any way. Of course, I’d love to be wrong, but it seems like a strange thing to do for an event that is sure to annoy a lot of players.
