Time ticks onward, ever onward, flip the calendar, turn the clock. Weekend turns to week, Sunday slides into Monday. Today is Veteran’s Day, so for many people out there it’s a nice three-day weekend. Extra leisure is always nice, even if a holiday like this one is to commemorate something as terrible as war—a bad habit humanity still hasn’t shaken, even in this age of enlightenment. We shouldn’t dwell, however, when there’s a Strands grid to solve. Words to uncover.
Strands is the newest game in the New York Times’ stable of puzzle games. It’s a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we’re given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. One of these words is the spangram which crosses from one side of the grid to another and reveals even more about the day’s theme.

Today’s Strands Breakdown
Not a lot of words in today’s grid, but it was still a tricky one. Some of these were easier than others. I found NURSE, DENTIST and DOCTOR pretty quickly, and extrapolated MEDICALCAREER when I found MEDIC and it wasn’t a word. I had a bit trickier a time with SURGEON and PHARMACIST genuinely stumped me, but I got there eventually.
