WHITE came to me because I was writing about The White Lotus. Maybe tomorrow I’ll guess LOTUS! It ended up being a good guess, leaving me with just 45 remaining solutions, though I didn’t know that at the time. I tried all new letters next with PALSY but this only slashed my remaining solutions to 6. I tried FORTY because I was already thinking about age and that left me with just two choices, though I could only think of one: BOOTY. Got booty on my mind, or something. The other was DOTTY, but I guessed correctly. Huzzah!

I get 0 points for guessing in four and -1 for losing to the Bot. The Bot gets 1 point for guessing in three and another for beating me. This brings us to the final monthly total of . . . .

Erik: 21 points.
Wordle Bot: 15 points.
I win! Bwahahaha! I beat the nefarious Wordle Bot, though you’ll notice our totals narrowed considerably over the past week or so, ending with just a six-point gap. We’ll see how April goes starting tomorrow.
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
- If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
- Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
- You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word “booty” (meaning loot or treasure) comes from the Middle Low German word “bûte”, meaning “exchange” or “distribution”, especially of seized goods. It entered English in the 15th century to refer to spoils of war or plunder.
The slang meaning of “booty” as buttocks developed much later, in American English during the 20th century, possibly influenced by African American Vernacular English (AAVE), where it may have evolved from the idea of “treasure” or “prize.”
