Although it was teased back in January, there’s been no official confirmation of when the new Galaxy S25 family member, the S25 Edge, will be announced or go on sale. A new leak suggests it’s not long to wait now.
Samsung had already dropped hints, including in its recent earnings call on April 30. “With the S25 series, including the soon-to-be added Edge, we will continue flagship-centric sales, along with seasonal promotions and sustained marketing efforts,” spokesperson Daniel Araujo said.
The call also later described the Edge as “soon-to-launch,” and referred to the launch as being part of the “Q2 outlook,” that is, between April and June. The call also referred to changes coming to the Galaxy Z folding phone designs and Galaxy Watch series —details here.
Now, a new post on X from prolific leaker Evan Blass, showing the words “Beyond slim” and a date in Italian, “13 maggio 2025,” which you don’t need me to translate as May 13, 2025. Between the words is the silhouette of something very skinny.
This fits with previous rumors of this date, noted by SamMobile, for instance, which also commented on a report which said that a May 13 reveal would be followed by pre-orders going live, then being on sale in China and South Korea from about May 20 and the U.S. from May 30.
All these dates sound good to me, but Samsung hasn’t yet revealed when the unveil will happen, usually at an event called Galaxy Unpacked. As May 13 is less than two weeks away, that points to a virtual rather than an in-person launch — invites for events like Samsung’s San Jose reveal for the Galaxy S25 series had been issued earlier in the release sequence than this.
And until Samsung actually pinpoints a date, which could happen as soon as the next few days, it’s subject to change. For instance, Samsung often favors a Wednesday or Thursday, and May 13 is a Tuesday, so several days in that week remain contenders.
For now, though, it looks like we have only days to wait before the new flagship is revealed.
