The thoroughly excellent Ace Combat 7 will be getting a Deluxe Edition for the Switch this Summer, including a chunk of the DLC.
Released back in 2019 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, Ace Combat 7 was a return to form for the series.
Going back to its unique Strangereal setting from earlier games, it featured an excellent story penned by the renowned Sunao Katabuchi and very involved as well as varied gameplay.
I reviewed the game at release and thought it was excellent, although the VR support was a mixed bag.
As for how this new Deluxe Edition on the Switch compares to the original PlayStation 4 version, this helpful comparison video (shown above) reveals that the Switch version holds up surprisingly well.
Over the years we’ve also had all manner of DLC released for the game, from classic fighters from the older entries to more recent content from movies such as Top Gun: Maverick.
The latter is an important point, as this Deluxe Edition contains some but not all the DLC packs. Specifically, the later Experimental, Cutting Edge, Original and Top Gun: Maverick flight sets will be sold separately.
So if you missed out on Ace Combat 7 as well as its amazing JPEG Dog and own a Switch, you should definitely pick up this new Deluxe Edition once it is released on July 26.
