It has become abundantly clear that Fortnite is doing a heavily Greek Mythology-themed season for Chapter 5, Season 2, just when you think they may have run out of ideas. But this is a pretty good one, I’d say!
Some things have already gone live in the game, including a new series of Mosiac quests meant to paint an image of what’s to come once you collect them all. But there are already loads of leaks and collected information about what’s coming that you can see via the game’s various dataminers.
Here are the Pandora’s Box murals that will be seen in the game, which include Zeus, Ares, Cerberus and Hades, with the theory being that Hades may be the main villain of this season. A bit on the nose.
The Pandora’s Box orb will show eight different characters from Greek Mythology, all gods except one of them. They include Zeus, Cereberus, Hades, Aphrodite, Poseidon, Medusa, Artemis and Hermes.
Here’s an animation of a Titan’s hand reaching out from under the Fortnite map, part of the event launching the season. There also should be extreme weather surrounding the event like tempests, tornadoes, vortexes and lava.
There are even more potential Greek Mythology skins past the battle pass given pass surveys showing what appear to be different gods or Greek-themed characters. Many of these may end up in the store if players want to collect them all, outside of the battle pass. This includes others like Apollo, Medusa, a Minotaur, Hephaestus and Persephone. Many are “modernized” versions of the gods, with some being more classical.
Outside of the Greek Mythology stuff, there was datamining (until it was erased from the API) that there will be an Avatar: The Last Airbender crossover mini event this coming season.
There’s a theory that this Greek season may offer up a variant of the existing Kratos skin to take him back to his younger Greek god-killing days.
Most of this is actual leaks, some of this is theorizing, but the Green theme is confirmed, and no doubt we are about to get a whole lot of related skins including many (perhaps not all) of the ones glimpsed here. Right now, players can hop into the game and work on a mosaic loading screen by finding its pieces, and there will of course be a Cerberus skin to match it. Though I don’t think that’s a reward for doing it. That would be nice! The new season launches on March 8
