We go years and years with nary a word about Prince Of Persia, which I’ve been playing since they were in black and white, and now we get the fantastic Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown in January and a brand new entry in the series in May.
Early Access for The Rogue Prince Of Persia begins on Steam on May 14th. It’s a “2D fast-paced action-platforming roguelite, developed by Evil Empire” and the first trailer, which moves from cinematic to gameplay in one of the best transitions I’ve seen in a video game trailer, looks terrific.
Behold:
I love the art-style here, and the fact that it looks so remarkably different than The Lost Crown. That game is more of a 2.5D title with 3D graphics, whereas Rogue gives us an almost hand-painted 2D art-style with a completely different palette. I also love the music in this trailer.
The upcoming game is a roguelite developed by one of the developers behind the hugely popular Dead Cells. Evil Empire was actually split-off from Dead Cells developer Motion Twin to continue to work on updates to the game. Now they’ve moved on to make this. I can’t wait.
The blurb:
Jump into this action roguelite installment in the Prince of Persia series as you flow between death-defying platforming and acrobatic combat as the Prince himself. Battle through the capital city again and again with one goal – find a way to save Persia from a Hun invasion wielding dark magic.
You can wishlist the game on Steam.
