Two things which are usually incompatible are “buying the latest iPhone” and “snagging a bargain.” But a new special offer that has just launched in the U.K. means that customers can buy the iPhone 15 with a contract that’s so deeply discounted, it’s cheaper than buying the phone outright.
If you go to the Apple Store, you can snap up an iPhone 15 for £799. Then you would need to sort out your line rental separately. The Mobiles.co.uk deal could work out cheaper than the iPhone’s standalone price, and comes with a two-year contract that includes unlimited call minutes, unlimited texts and a big chunk of data: 100GB, which is more than enough for most people.
The price for this is £59 upfront and £29.99 a month for 24 months. Add all that up and it comes to £778.76 including VAT, in other words £20.24 less than the cost of buying the iPhone on its own.
The 24-month contract is with ID Mobile, a mobile virtual network operator owned by British retailer Currys, which also owns Mobiles.co.uk. ID Mobile uses the Three network.
This deal means you’re getting an iPhone which you’ll own outright at the end of the contract, and be able to pay it off with low monthly instalments and no interest payments.
There’s no catch, though it’s only available for new ID Mobile contracts and this price is for the iPhone 15 with 128GB storage, with all five colors available.
And the small print notes that, as with all mobile contracts in the U.K. the price will go up every April by the price of inflation. Still, that’s not until next year. The exact wording on the site is “Monthly price will rise each April (from 2025, not next month) in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI), rate of inflation, +3.9%.”
If you already have a contract that you’re happy with, thank you very much, the same websitealso offers the iPhone 15, again with 128GB and in any color, for £699, that’s £100 off the Apple Store price. Again, this is a great deal given that this is the latest-available iPhone. The same price is also available at currys.co.uk.
As an indication of just how good a deal this is, compare it to how much an iPhone 15 Plus sells for. You can snag the same 100GB a month deal for £29.99, but the upfront cost is a lot more: £359.
Deals on iPhones are common when the next model lands, but to see prices like these six months before the iPhone 16 will arrive is unusual.
