I’m increasingly of the opinion that the best stuff on Netflix is animated. Recently, Blue Eye Samurai blew our collective minds, and before that we’ve had Castlevania, The Dragon Prince, and—at the top of my list for some time now—Arcane.
Arcane takes place in the same universe as League Of Legends, the wildly popular video game from Riot Games, but you don’t need to play that or have any knowledge of it to enjoy the series. (I’ve tried and failed to get into League and other similar MOBA-style games, but I adore Arcane—so much that I wish they’d make a third-person action-adventure game out of it in some kind of reverse video game-to-TV-show-to-video-game adaptation).
Now, after much waiting, we can feast our eyes on this dark and terrifying teaser trailer for Season 2, which lands this coming November.
In the trailer we get our first glimpse of the werewolf, Warwick, in the cavernous laboratory of the mad chemist, Singed, creator of the drug Shimmer that Silco used to control the denizens of the underground city, Zuan in Season 1.
Missing from the trailer are sisters Vi and Jinx, whose relationship was central to the conflict in Season 1 as these sisters navigated the politics and dangers of the prosperous Piltover and the slums of Zuan. Nor do we see the inventor, Jayce, or any of the other characters from the first season. For that, we’ll need to wait for a proper trailer.
