Following the reveal last November, we now know that the first Robot Damashii toy for Armored Core VI will be out this September.
Priced at 18,150 yen (or around $117), the IB-07: SOL 644 / Ayre is a pretty sizeable Robot Damashii toy. So much so that it features diecast elements, which puts it in a weird halfway house between regular Robot Damashii releases and the more high-end Metal Robot Damashii toys.
However, this particular toy will lack the transformation seen when you fight it in the Bad Ending of the game. Mostly it seems to keep the cost down, as it would have likely have had to be an expensive chogokin release in order for the transformation to work properly. This is because transformation is pretty intensive of the joints of most mecha toys, as they require more diecast at a greater scale to have the strength to work properly.
Furthermore, in an interview with Hobby Watch, it seems that Bandai Spirits is interested in doing more bosses from Armored Core VI, citing both the IBIS series of mecha and even Baltheus.
The former has already been hinted at on the Bandai Spirits Twitter/X account, referencing a line Handler Walter says in the Good Ending of the game. That likely means the next reveal will be a toy of the IBIS series AC, the IB-C03: HAL 826, which would be magnificent.
Again, I still think it’s weird that Bandai Spirits is doing toys of the end game bosses. They are not only massive spoilers but also mecha that most players would not be familiar with, at least according to the percentage of trophies/achievements related to said end game bosses.
Anyway, this looks like a decent enough toy, although the Coral energy paintjob looks a bit excessive in places, and it will be interesting to see how much this will sell.
