Canelo Alvarez Vs. Edgar Berlanga: Date, Time And How To Watch

Canelo Alvarez will defend his WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight titles against Edgar Berlanga on Saturday, September 14, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Here’s how you can watch the fight on live stream:

  • Date: Saturday, September 14
  • Time: 8 p.m. ET / 1 a.m. (Sunday) UK
  • TV/Stream: DAZN and PPV.com

Here is a look at the entire card.

Canelo Alvarez vs. Edgar Berlanga

  • Weight Class: Super Middleweight (168 lbs)
  • Championships: WBA, WBC and WBO Super Middleweight Titles

Canelo, 34, comes into the fight, which will be the 66th of his career, as a major favorite to defeat the 27-year-old Berlanga. The Mexican icon has a huge advantage in experience, given that this is Berlanga’s 21st professional fight.

Canelo has never been knocked out or down in his career, but Berlanga’s best path to victory would be to win by stoppage. He has 17 KOs in his career and began his career with 16 straight first-round KOs.

He will be looking to land something big on Canelo while also trying to navigate the power coming back his way.

This fight could be a one-sided beating in favor of Canelo, but Berlanga’s power may be his only chance to pull off the major upset.

(c) Erislandy Lara vs. Danny Garcia

  • Weight Class: Catchweight (157 lbs)
  • Championship: WBA Middleweight Title

Garcia’s placement in this fight has been scrutinized since it was announced. The fight is taking place at a catchweight of 157 pounds for the middleweight title, has raised even more eyebrows.

Garcia hasn’t fought in more than two years, but somehow, he has landed a title fight. It’s a head-scratcher and a tough battle to figure any way you size it up.

I’m not sure if it’s worth it to be the co-main event, but here we are.

Caleb Plant vs. Trevor McCumby

  • Weight Class: Super Middleweight (168 lbs)
  • Championship: Interim WBA Super Middleweight Title

Plant could be headed to gatekeeper status. He has lost two of his last three fights, and McCumby needs an opponent against whom he can prove himself.

At 28-0, McCumby is ready for a challenge, which the former world-champion Plant is supposed to supply for him.

Rolly Romero vs. Manuel Jaimes

  • Weight Class: Lightweight (135 lbs)

The always-entertaining Romero lands nicely in the middle of this main card. Romero makes up for what he may lack in convention in power and presence. He has a star quality like Ricardo Mayorga, with a similar all-or-nothing approach.

As Romero predicted, a stoppage win could bring him a bigger fight in his next outing.

Stephen Fulton vs. Carlos Castro

  • Weight Class: Featherweight (126 lbs)

Fresh off his KO loss to Naoya Inoue, Fulton has moved up to featherweight, hoping to position himself for a title at 126 pounds. This fight could wind up being a chess match between two above-average boxers, and that might not be some fight fans’ cup of tea early in the PPV card.

Roiman Villa vs. Ricardo Salas

  • Weight Class: Welterweight (147 lbs)

The PPV show will open with this welterweight scrap between two fighters looking to get into the title mix in the wide-open division. Villa’s power makes him a potentially exciting fighter capable of quickly starting the show.

The fight could be a significant test for Salas, who has never faced an opponent of Villa’s level. Look for some early fireworks in this fight.
